We are in between tours at the moment so October has been pretty quiet except for a one-off gig in Sheffield last week. Mia and I are djing next week as part of the riot-grrrl book launch at hoxton bar &kitchen on hoxton square... that's on October 24th. Wet Dog and Valerie are playing so it should be good.
In other news, our friend Rafafans has designed a really nice sleeve for our "In Berlin" single, which will be out soon. And the Vera November single, Red Dream, is out on November 26th. I've heard it and it's great.
It's nice to be at home and spend all day doing housework and listening to records. This is what I'm listening to at the moment:

---Deerhunter - Cryptograms and Flourescent Grey---

This might become my favourite record ever. It made me buy a bunch of new guitar pedals. I really love everything about it... the lyrics are really good too and I'm a bit obsessed with their blog:
deerhuntertheband.blogspot.com. If you go there you can download a whole lot of really great music, including Bradford Cox's solo project, Atlas Sound. You can also see photos of their poo.

---Sleeping States - There the Open Spaces---

I've been waiting for this album for a long long time and finally it has been released on the lovely Tome label. Sleeping States is away in the US on a big tour right now but he'll be back soon and then you should go and see him. The songs on this album are really beautiful, I Wonder should be at number 1, and if there was any justice in the world Markland would be a pop star and sell millions of records.

---Congregation - Don't Pay No Mind---

I went to Congregation's record launch on monday and bought a copy. You can only get it on vinyl, none of that digital download crap, so if that's a problem maybe you should go and buy a record player. Victoria's dog, Ms. Bertha Lee, is featured on the sleeve.

I've been reading Roy Porter's "A Social History of Madness", and also "Out of this World : Deleuze and the Philosophy of Creation" by Peter Hallward - this book is really interesting and you probably don't need to know anything about philosophy or to have read Deleuze to enjoy it.

Some good films I've seen recently: L'avventura (dir. Antonioni), Control (Anton Corbijn), the collected short films of Czech animator Jan Svankmajer, Persona (now my favourite Bergman film).

We're on tour again in November, starting in Greece which is without a doubt the best place to tour (mainly for the food) then going to France, Swizerland, Germany and the UK. These will be the last shows for a while as we're taking a break from December onwards.
